About:
Rose Eken is a Danish artist based in London. Ekenīs work addresses the nature of particular interior spaces and the way these spaces relate to the collective unconscious. Her works dissect the tissue of memory, place and expectation that constitute authentic and seamless experiences of reality. By utilising familiar elements and signifiers from the modern collective memory she activates the spectatorīs own memory and dreams. Ekenīs 3D edition for DUNK! is like one of her miniature film sets; a small tableau depicting a dirty stage lit up by small LEDīs. Perhaps some rock or punk concert happened here but now both musicians and audience have gone and the stage is left abandoned. The piece is like a little box of failed dreams; reminding us of our failed aspirations and teenage desire to be a rockstar.
